| June 7, 2010 The Paris and District Chamber of Commerce recently had 2 successful Business to Business After Five events. The May Business to Business After Five event was held at the Brant Museum and Archives on Charlotte Street in Brantford. Those who attended were treated to an informative tour of the facility and had the chance to reminisce about days gone past in Brantford and surrounding area. Special thanks to the Brant Historical Society for their hospitality and patience answering all the questions we had! The June Business to Business After Five event was a joint effort by 3 different Chamber Members. One of the largest crowds ever met at River Ridge Bed and Breakfast for a tour of their lovely accommodations. Thank you to Cathy and Paul Dawson for providing the scenic and comfortable venue A delicious barbeque dinner was provided by Nancy Panasiuk of Forks of the Grand Personal Chef Services. Following dinner everyone got into their vehicles and made the short trek to Glen Morris where Garth and his team from Grand River Rafting were waiting to take everyone on a leisurely raft trip down the Grand. What a wonderful evening this was! The weather couldn’t have been better and the hospitality from each host was outstanding! Thank you for a wonderful evening and for showing the true beauty of the Grand River and surrounding area. | February 12, 2010 The Paris and District Chamber of Commerce held its annual ‘Funspiel’ on Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Paris Curling Club. Approximately 30 people came out to this annual event for an afternoon of fun! Before the group headed out onto the ice, a delicious lunch was provided by Nancy Panasiuk of Forks of the Grand Personal Chef. Following lunch, the group moved out onto the ice surface for a couple of hours of curling. The beginners were treated to a curling lesson and the ‘pros’ competed against one another! Special thanks to the patient teachers for their excellent curling lesson. Following the curling, everyone headed back in off the ice for a beverage and snacks. We then headed back out onto the ice one more time for the ever popular ‘Turkey Shoot’. Congratulations to Paul Barber of Brant County Power for winning the turkey! Nice shot! | February 10, 2010 On one of the few snowy days this winter, IQ Tax and Bookkeeping Services hosted the February Business to Business After Five event. Vivien and her staff welcomed a large number of guests to her facility on Curtis Ave. and provided those who attended with information on her business including the introduction of their new website. | October 21, 2009 The Paris and District Chamber of Commerce held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Paris Grand Golf and Country Club. Those on hand were treated to an informative evening of business, networking, door prizes and the celebration of another successful year for the Paris and District Chamber of Commerce! Special guest speaker was Grant Bishop, Economist with the TD Bank Financial Group. Grant provided those present with an interesting and informative analysis and forecast for the Canadian economy. 10 year awards were presented to Bell City Auto Centre, Best Western Brant Park Inn, Karl’s Woodworking and The St. George Company. Thank you for your dedication to the Paris and District Chamber of Commerce! The evening concluded with the presentation of the 2009/10 Annual Business Awards. The Paris and District Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards are presented annually to companies/businesses/organizations. These companies are nominated by the Chamber Executive as being recognized for demonstrating the Paris and District Chamber of Commerce mission of a “commitment to cooperation in commerce”. | September 23, 2009 On Wednesday, September 23, 2009 the Chambers of Commerce of Brantford-Brant and Paris joined together to present a trade show at the Paris Fairgrounds. This trade show was developed in response to requests from our members for more opportunities to market their businesses, particularly during these challenging economic times. Our Chamber has long been an advocate of regional planning and economic development and this successful event will hopefully be the beginning of more joint projects to come. The joint trade show was open between 4pm and 8pm and admission was free. The event was catered and a licensed refreshment area was available. 60 Chamber member businesses registered for this event representing more than 40 business sectors. The trade show not only showcased the diversity of our communities’ businesses but also provided excellent networking opportunities for those who participated, either as exhibitors or visitors. | September 9, 2009 On a gorgeous, sunny, September day, the Paris Grand Golf and Country Club welcomed the Paris and District Chamber of Commerce for its 4th Annual Golf Tournament. A total of 44 golfers participated and a terrific time was had by all. Thank you to Tracey Palmer, Debbie Bowen, Tara Maude and Sam from the Best Western for taking time from their busy schedules to volunteer for the day. Last, but not least, a huge thank you to the golf committee, Bryan Maude, Cindy Hiscock and Sue Swinton for all their hard work and dedication in putting together this golf tournament. We look forward to another successful golf tournament next year in 2010! | August 12, 2009 The August Business to Business After Five event was the annual “Canoe Down the Grand” event. Jamie Kent and his staff at Grand Experiences welcomed a small crowd and treated them to an evening of canoeing/kayaking, delicious refreshments and excellent networking opportunities.
